My LEEDS Summer Picnic will be held on Sunday 9th July from 12:30-4pm at Thorner Victory Hall
Everyone from the various communities in the Harewood ward is invited to attend this free event, bring a picnic along and celebrate culture in our community. Those attending can expect to:
- BE ENTERTAINED: a local band, a vintage-style dry-land synchronized swimming dance act, a pop-up ‘suitcase’ theatre group, a locally-themed edible art installation
- GET CREATIVE: a gingerbread decoration workshop, a fashion photo booth, a writing workshop and a storytelling session
- CONNECT WITH OUR COMMUNITY: various community and charity groups will be sharing information about what they do and invite people to join them e.g. sport, local history, environment, creative writing, over 60s etc.
- ENJOY REFRESHMENTS: bring your own or have the option to buy from local vendors
- CELEBRATE OUR LOCAL AREA: artists, performers, stallholders and vendors are all local. They include (and are not limited to) creatives and community groups from Shadwell, Barwick, East Keswick, Collingham, Aberford, Thorner, Scarcroft etc.
- EXPLORE: in advance of the picnic, we will also be running an imaginative and fun ‘storyhunt’ with prizes to encourage people to get out and about in our area as well as join the event on the 9th July.
You too can participate. There are still a couple of spots left for stallholders – Any local community/cultural groups interested are asked to email Becky Smith at harewoodhost@leeds2023.co.uk if they are interested in having a stall?
