Harewood Parish Council administers the tranquil cemetery located along Harewood Avenue about a quater of a mile from the traffic lights at the centre of the village. An un-adopted lane leads south from the main road to the cemetery which is surrounded by trees. Cemetery business is discussed at each meeting of Harewood Parish Council.
Harewood Parish Cemetery came under the management of Harewood Parish around 1880. A Chapel existed there of which only one wall remains within the cemetery. The Chapel was demolished in the early 1980’s for reasons of safety and only the original boiler house remains.
There are consecrated and non consecrated burial plots within the cemetery. Full size plots may be purchased for interments. Due to the restricted size of the cemetery, burial is now only offered to parish residents. Smaller, half or quarter, size plots are available for the burial of cremated remains. These may be also be interred or scattered in the Garden of Remembrance, by prior arrangement. The Garden of Remembrance is situated on the left as you enter the cemetery, just through the gates, and it can be arranged for a memorial plaque to be placed on the stone wall.
All details and specifics concerning the use of Harewood Parish Cemetery may be obtained and discussed with the Cemetery Administrator. Mr P Stephenson Tel 07407 711187
