Our long awaited children’s playground, free tennis court and recreation area is now open. Access to it is along Maltkin Lane by the Harewood Arms. It was opened on Saturday 31st July by Council Chair Dr Kate Hill assisted by some eager children including Nina who was invited to cut the ceremonial ribbon.
A range of exciting activities for young children has been provided. There are also picnic tables and benches.
The project is now complete with an adult exercise gym installed around the tennis court. Although provided as essentially a facility for residents in Harewood, other users are welcome and everyone is asked to respect the following code of conduct.
- Do not come to the playground by car. There is no car park. Maltkin Lane is a footpath with vehicular access for authorised users only. Pedestrians have right of way at all times. Vehicles should stop if necessary to allow pedestrians to pass safely.
- The single exception is that two spaces are provided for disabled drivers. Please display your blue badge at all times if you use this facility. Speed along Maltkin Lane must not exceed 5mph and there are speed bumps.
- Children must be supervised at all times.
- Please take your litter home or deposit it in one of the two bins provided if they are not full.
- Dogs are not allowed in the recreation area
- To keep it safe:
- Report any damage or deterioration of the equipment, gates, fencing or misuse of the disabled parking bays to the Parish Clerk on 07587 202613 or by email to contact@harewoodparishcouncil.gov.uk
- Report any anti-social behaviour, or vandalism immediately to the Police using the non-emergency number 101 and to the Parish Clerk on the number or email above.
- If you have been using the tennis court for 30 minutes and others are waiting, please finish the game you are playing and vacate the court.
