During the Covid-19 Crisis, Harewood Parish Council will continue to function online. Members of the public who have matters they would wish to raise at meetings can submit comments in advance by email to contact@harewoodparishcouncil.gov.uk We are also exploring how to enable members of the public to join and observe scheduled meetings via video link. Further details will be available on the website at 2020 Council Meetings:
Key notes from our meeting held on Thursday 17 March 2020
The full minutes of our meetings are published on our web site. Minutes 17th March 2020
Harewood Recreational Project:
Planning approval has been granted for work on the children’s play area, adult outdoor gym and multi-function court to commence. The approval required some changes to the original design to ensure that the nature of the site on Malt Kiln Lane was not adversely affected, for further details see Planning go-ahead for recreation project
We will keep you updated on progress in due course.
Traffic issues:
Harewood Council has contracted Leeds City Council to install two speed indication devices but since they became operational, we have found that they are not well positioned. We are arranging to get them moved and to site them at various approaches to the village to check where they are most effective. Speed indicators have also been ordered for Wyke but installation may be delayed due to the current Covid-19 situation.
Another issue is the growing number of heavy lorries travelling East - West through the village on the A659. We understand that Leeds City Council has the authority to impose a weight limit on the road but cannot do so without consultation with other Parish Councils along the A659, communities through which diverted traffic would flow (including North Yorkshire ) and the haulage industry. As another local authority would be involved a public enquiry may be necessary. Harewood Parish Council is seeking views from Collingham and Pool in Wharfedale Parish Councils on this matter.
Next Parish Council Meeting:
Our next meeting will be held (remotely) on Thursday 7 May 2020. No elections are due this year for the Parish Council so we will continue with our current structure. Please note that we still have three vacancies for parish councillors to represent the Wigton Ward. If you wish to apply see Harewood Parish Council web site for further details on what you need to do:
